Working Title: Superintendent

Supervisor: Project Manager

General Description of Position: The Project Superintendent is the company’s primary representative for the project. The Project Superintendent is responsible for safely constructing the project on a day-to-day basis. This includes accountability for all planning, short-term scheduling, the project workforce (including subcontractors), the project’s equipment fleet, and all project specific, company assets. The project superintendent reports to the Project Manager.

Essential functions and responsibilities listed below:

Scheduling:

  •  Become intimately familiar with the requirements of the contract 
  •  Identify and ensure that we document all extra work.
  • Keep an accurate description and daily record of all force account work for which we are entitled to reimbursement under the specifications.
  •  Assist with estimating all extra work proposals.
  • Maintain personal set of contract documents to include all addenda, clarifications and change orders.

Job Cost:

  •  Review the project budget to gain a thorough knowledge of the cost codes and instruct foremen on the proper use of codes for charging their crew’s time.
  •  Review the labor and total job cost reports for work items that are out of line.
  •  Report all cost report errors to the project engineer. 

Project Control:

  •  Hold daily coordination meetings with foremen, the project engineer, field engineers and subcontractors.
  •  Constantly monitor all of our project operations to ensure that crews work at maximum potential.
  •  Coordinate and supervise all subcontractors. Ensure that they maintain sufficient progress. Require their participation in producing the two-week schedules.
  •  Unload all permanent materials in planned for locations, utilizing care not to damage. Cover, protect, and periodically inspect until consumed in the project. Ensure all receiving tickets are turned in to the project engineer.
  •  Maintain our company’s reputation as a high quality producer by requiring high quality workmanship from both our forces and our subcontractors.
  •  Develop new and maintain existing, positive relationships with the Owner.
  •  After approval of the Project Manager, acquire all small tools for the project. Account for all small tools acquired and consumed for the project.
  •  Produce complete and detailed daily reports

Safety Policies and Practices:  The employee in this job must be knowledgeable about and follow the company’s safety policies and procedures as described in the company’s safety manual.

Education: High School Diploma or GED and and five (5) years to ten (10 ) of experience

Other Requirements: Must have current valid driver’s license and have a safe driving record.

Work Enviroment: The work environment/physical demands characteristics described here are representative of those the employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; and high and/ or precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
