Working Title: Scheduling Engineer

Supervisor: Area Manager

General Description of Position: As the Area Schedule Engineer you are the primary keeper of the project schedule.  You are responsible to represent the project schedule in CPM format and to keep it properly updated and maintained.  

Essential functions and responsibilities listed below:

  • Be proficient in the use of Primavera 6 scheduling software.
  • Become intimately familiar with the requirements of the contract documents so that in the development and maintenance of the project schedule we identify everything required to be represented by the schedule, including:
  • Approval process for agreeing to the baseline
  • Frequency and type of updates
  • Rules for making revisions
  • Procedures for submission of delay analyses
  • Assist the Project Manager, the Project Superintendent and the Project Engineer in developing the CPM schedule for the project.
  • Assist the Project Engineer in updating the project CPM schedule monthly so that it always reflects the as-built condition and the current plan for project completion, including the effects of approved change orders.
  • After the approval of the baseline schedule and after each update, analyze the schedule to identify and then communicate to project team members schedule related indications including:
    • Interfaces between our work and the work of subcontractors.
    • Insufficient schedule detail
    • Erroneous logic
    • Unrealistic durations
    • Insufficient or competing resources
    • Trends of performance, both positive and negative
  • Perform delay analyses on a current basis in order to evaluate each delay’s contribution to changes in project completion date
  • Draft the reports to the Owner for the Project Manager’s approval and signature that accompany each update of the Project Schedule
  • When assigned, participate in producing change order schedules.
  • Teach other project personnel how to use our scheduling software.
  • Represent JD Abrams, LP in CPM related technical matters with the Owner.
  • Interface regularly with the Area Schedule Engineer


  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Proficiency in Primavera 6 Scheduling and On-Screen Takeoff
  • A strong detail orientation and a commitment to producing work that is accurate the first time
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks demanding of immediate attention, and to juggle multiple, on-going, concurrent responsibilities
  • Strong analytical abilities and organizational skills, project/task management experience and cross-functional coordination skills

Safety Policies and Practices: The employee in this job must be knowledgeable about and follow the company’s safety policies and procedures as described in the company’s safety manual

Education: Civil Engineer, Construction Technology, or Construction Science Degree and five (5) to ten (10) years of experience

Other RequirementsMust have current valid driver’s license and have a safe driving record.
