Working Title: Structures Superintendent
Supervisor: Project Engineer
General Description of Position: A Superintendent is one of the company’s secondary representatives for a project. He or she is responsible for safely constructing a portion of a project on a day to day basis. He or she may be responsible for a specific element of work such as underground pipe, bridgework, or earthwork; or, he or she may be responsible for all trades within a given area of a project. In either case, a Superintendent is accountable for planning, short-term scheduling, workforce (including subcontractors as may be assigned), equipment, and all company assets assigned to him or her. The project superintendent reports to the Project Engineer.
Essential functions and responsibilities listed below:
The Superintendent is responsible to thoroughly plan his or her activities with a primary focus on safety considerations. The Project Engineer will represent these plans on paper. Minimum planning requirements as applicable to the Superintendent include:
Safety Policies and Practices: The employee in this job must be knowledgeable about and follow the company’s safety policies and procedures as described in the company’s safety manual.
Education: High School Diploma or GED and and five (5) years to ten (10 ) of experience
Other Requirements: Must have current valid driver’s license and have a safe driving record.
Work Enviroment: The work environment/physical demands characteristics described here are representative of those the employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; and high and/ or precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
