Working Title: Precast QC Tech

Supervisor: APS President

General Description of Position: This position verifies product conformity with approved shop drawings, PCI, and DOT specifications and identifies items that are non-conforming.

Licensure/Certification/ Credentialing:  ACI Certifications and PCI Certifications

Essential functions and responsibilities listed below: Inspection, verification, and documentation of the dimensional accuracy of forms and the quantity and location of reinforcement, embedded items and quality of concrete

  • Inspection, observation, and documentation of all stressing operations to insure that specified procedures are followed.
  • Concrete testing and fabrication of representative test samples.
  • Inspection of all products for conformance with shop drawings and specifications.
  • Generate detailed reports identifying non-conformances and coordinate solutions with production engineer.
  • Preparation and maintenance of complete quality control records for all products.
  • Coordinate production scheduling with production engineer.

 

Safety Policies and Practices: The employee in this job must be knowledgeable about and follow the company’s safety policies and procedures as described in the company’s safety manual.

Education: Associates Degree in Civil Technology or Construction Management.

Experience and Training:

  •        Minimum of 6 years experience in the precast industry or equivalent combination of education and experience to effectively complete duties, functions and responsibilities
  •        2 years supervisory experience preferred

KSA’s:

  •  Must be able to communicate with people and give good instructions
  •  Proficient in basic Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)      
  • Inspection or construction experience and fundamental concrete knowledge preferred.
  • Good planning, organization, and basic math (geometry, algebra, trigonometry) skills.
  • Ability to generate detailed inspection reports and documentation of non-conformances.
  • ACI Concrete Field Testing Grade I certification.
  • ACI Aggregate Testing Tech - Level 1
  • ACI Concrete Laboratory Technician – Level 1 
  • PCI Level I and Level II certification.
  • Ability to utilize creative and efficient inspection and control methods.

Other Requirements: Must have current valid driver’s license and have a safe driving record. 

Work environment: The work environment/physical demands characteristics described here are representative of those the employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; and high and/ or precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
