J.D. Abrams, L.P. is an employee-owned Texas heavy civil contractor seeking a full-time Controller to oversee its financial and cost accounting environments. The Controller will report to the CFO and will manage and supervise all aspects of accounting from payroll to tax compliance as well as financial analyses & reporting. The Controller will assist with the development of internal control policies, procedures, and financial planning.
-Manage accounting team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner.
-Assist the CFO with overall financial operations including accounting, budgets, audits, tax compliance and other financial planning activities
-Provide financial leadership to our project and business managers
-Assist the CFO to ensure Abrams meets all financial, regulatory and compliance requirements
-Preparation of monthly WIP schedules, quarterly internal financial statements, as well as internal analysis reports
-Coordinate the annual financial statement audits of the company and its employee benefit plans (e.g. Welfare Benefit, 401K and ESOP)
-Assure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws regarding finances, tax filings, and reporting
Financial Reporting:
-Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end financial close. Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information.
-Analyze financial statements to pinpoint potential weak areas.
-Establish and implement short and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operational procedures.
-Assist with the design and functionality of the Company’s accounting operating environment to include integration of the Accounting, Estimating, Project Management and Equipment Management systems
