J.D. Abrams, L.P. is a full service heavy civil contractor, specializing in public work infrastructure projects. Highway and bridge construction for the Texas Department of Transportation makes up much of our construction work, however, we have completed a variety of other types of projects as well.

Summary and Definition

The Area Manager is responsible for overseeing and directing all program and project construction operations in their assigned geographic area. Area Managers are accountable for the overall performance of all projects and for their safe completion within company policies and to all company standards.

This includes assistance in project selection and project execution plans, assistance in talent recruiting, indoctrinating and developing supervisory personnel, responsibility for project financial and safety performance, owner satisfaction and community relations, subcontractor and material supplier contract administration, management of equipment, and maintaining a positive work environment for all employees and project participants.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary contact between the Area office and the Corporate office
  • Assist in the development and implementation of strategic initiatives
  • Assist in developing and implementing operational procedures and policies
  • Manage the area office and project supervisory staff. Responsibilities include training and developing employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; providing feedback; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • Supervises and develops direct reports while prioritizing and delegating significant responsibilities to others
  • Support site personnel to assist their management of the site
  • Maximize profitability by establishing and monitoring performance measures and adjusting strategies and resources
  • Reviews project deliverables with project staff frequently and assigns responsibilities, execution, and follow-up plans
  • Visit projects frequently to spot check quality and policy enforcement; ensure quality standards are being met at various stages of progress
  • Ensure compliance with all appropriate laws, rules, and regulations
  • Ensure that assigned locations meet all safety standards in accordance with OSHA and state regulations
  • Other duties as required and directed.

    • MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
    • HCSS HeavyBid and HeavyJob
    • Oracle P6 EPPM scheduling

Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction/Engineering or related discipline
  • Suitable experience in heavy highway construction or related discipline
