Bob Bielek, P.E., the new El Paso district engineer for the Texas Department of Transportation, was honored at a reception March 7 at the Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce. Bielek had been appointed to the job five days earlier. The event was hosted by state Rep. Joe Pickett, D-El Paso, who chairs the Transportation Policy Board; Ted Houghton, chair of the Texas Transportation Commission; and the Greater Chamber. Bielek replaces Chuck Berry, who retired after 32 years with the El Paso district of TxDOT. Bob has 42 years of experience in the planning, design and construction of transportation facilities, including highways, airports and mass transit. Most recently he served as director of project delivery for the Houston Airport System.
